Years ago,  we lived only minutes apart along the Hudson River in Englewood. Almost a decade later, we reunited at Tenafly High School.

While catching up, we realized we still shared something important: both of us live with food allergies. We talked about the challenges that come with them, how we related over the questions before ordering, the uncertainty around ingredients and cross-contact, and the frustration of not always feeling included at the table.

We knew these weren't just our experiences. Millions of people with food allergies and their families face the same challenges every day.

So we decided to do something about it, and that's how the Safe Plate Initiative began. - Co-founders Casey and Henry Y.
